About honahlee
The original founders of honahlee wanted to start a company with three main goals:
- Put patients/visitors first
- Make a difference (help people)
- Create a work environment that the team loved
In late 2017, the concept of honahlee was realised with the mission of Improving global wellbeing through cannabis education and access.
honahlee was launched to the public in late 2018 as an education site that helped Australians learn about cannabis via content created with experts. As the medical cannabis landscape evolved, so did honahlee. The site focussed on content that would help reduce harm to patients and potential patients by providing them with unbiased educational information and transparency into the space where so many organisations were (and are) putting profits before patients.
In order for health professionals to practise human centred care, they needed a way to standardise the rapidly growing number of products and to be able to compare them to understand what might be best for their patients. In 2021, honahlee launched Catalyst, the Alternative Medicines Database, with input from multiple health professionals. This tool helped practitioners to make better decisions and empowered patients to learn more about the medications that their practitioners were prescribing and talking to them about. Catalyst’s focus was the standardisation of medicine, helping verified patients learn more about their medication (and potential options) and capturing product feedback useful for practitioner and patient decision making.
The honahlee team realised that there were still major challenges in the space. A continued lack of transparency from vertically integrated product suppliers/distributors/medical practices and an increasing lack of transparency and overpricing from pharmacies.
In 2023 the honahlee team launched “Scripts”, which allows patients with eScripts to upload their prescription, see pharmacies that are experienced with alternative medicine, understand shipping/pick up times and guarantees RRP or less for medication. This meant that patients were no longer held ransom for their prescriptions or were reduced to paying upwards of $50 over RRP for a single product.
In September 2024, the TGA sent honahlee an advertising warning letter, alleging that honahlee had contravened the advertising guidelines by creating educational content. honahlee was committed to working with the TGA to make sure that everything the team had created was compliant. Unfortunately, the TGA refused to provide any specifics about potential breaches. Because honahlee still only had 2 full time team members and 2 part time team members and the team was spread thin, the team decided that it was safer to remove the content to align with the TGA. They also proactively decided to make changes to their other platforms.
The honahlee team will continue working to help Australian patients via various different projects that aim to make a positive impact in the lives of those who utilise alternative medicine.
“We appreciate the support of everyone who has utilised honahlee and are honoured that we’ve been able to help so many Australian patients. We want to thank you for all the love you’ve sent us since the TGA letter and will continue to work towards bringing honahlee back in the future. In the meantime, we will focus on other platforms, to work with patients where possible and continue to make sure that industry gives people the most patient focussed experience possible.”

Giving Back to The Community
honahlee has been a part of the medicinal cannabis space since late 2018. Our mission is to improve global wellbeing through cannabis education and access – we’re starting with Australia.
Since founding honahlee, we’ve provided content and tools to increase transparency and help patients and health professionals make more educated choices.
We’ve worked hard to ensure that the following resources have been and will always be free to patients:

- Catalyst (Alternative Medicines Database)
- Scripts (Online prescription delivery service)
Ongoing giving back program
The Australian community is filled with other organisations and individuals that share our goals. honahlee is committed to supporting the community as the company grows. We promise to donate money from our revenue to help organisations that are putting patients first.
That means, when anyone uses a paid honahlee service they’re contributing to helping the community. Here’s where our donations are going:
