Cannabis

Cannabis is a flowing plant in the Cannabaceae family. The cannabis plant is best known for the cannabis sativa and cannabis indica species. Cannabis has two main active chemicals: CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). It often goes by the terms “Marijuana”, “Weed”, or “Pot” and is called a vast number of other terms.

Cannabis is often consumed by smoking the buds or extracting the THC and turning it into an oil which is then consumed. Use of the higher THC variety of cannabis provides a sense of euphoria, a high, as well as a delay in motor responses. Cannabis is classified as a depressant drug which means that it slows down the activity of the central nervous system, thus delaying messages between the brain and body.

People rarely know the differences between cannabis, hemp and marijuana. The plant may also be known as hemp, however, hemp is a variety of cannabis which has a lower THC content and a higher CBD content and will not get you ‘high’.
